Welcome.

Hello. I’m Sidney Stone, a photographic artist living in Whitefish, Montana where I enjoy roaming the backroads, pursuing visually interesting scenes and objects to capture with my camera. My photographic interests include sports, action, landscape, macro, portraits, still life and street photography.

My life-long love of photography began as a young boy, watching my father develop prints in our kitchen. It is magical to see an image appear in a tray of developer! I loved spending time in the darkroom, and together we built several darkrooms in my childhood homes. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie, eventually moving onto a 35mm Minolta, followed by several medium format cameras. My love affair with film continues to this day, although developed film is now scanned to a digital image and processed on the computer.

I evolved into the world of digital photography when I began shooting football games at my son’s high school. But film photography taught me the basics of composition, previsualization, and exposure. In addition, darkroom techniques such as dodging and burning are transferable to the digital world. Currently I shoot with both digital and film cameras to create my photographic art.

Traveling throughout the United States with cameras in tow, to date I’ve made it to 47 of the 50 states. I’ve also visited countries on six of the earth’s seven continents. Throughout these journeys I’ve captured many memories of people, places and events.

I am pleased to share with you my images of the world as I see it.
